The Lanarkshire & Dunbartonshire Railway , Scotland, received its Act of Parliament in 1891 . The line provided a link between Glasgow, Scotland, and Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The line was funded by the Caledonian Railway who wanted a stake on the north bank of the river Clyde that was dominated by the North British Railway Co. The line was opened from Glasgow to Clydebank in 1896 and to Dumbarton where it joined the Helensburgh line, in 1896. The line followed the banks of t...
