The Lanarkshire & Dunbartonshire Railway , Scotland, received its Act of Parliament in 1891 . The line provided a link between Glasgow, Scotland, and Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The line was funded by the Caledonian Railway who wanted a stake on the north bank of the river Clyde that was dominated by the North British Railway Co.
